Tamia,
I absolutely agree with you. I believe this is the largest benefit of social media is to let your customers know you care enough to listen to what they are saying. Not only does the customer have a direct connection to your brand through the social site, but the other users see this interaction as well.

Thank you for taking time to read my blog!

I agree that a brand-specific online community is the best case scenario for interacting with consumers, yet the most important aspect of building community is participation, no matter where it takes place.

Your consumers want to know that you're listening--and responding--to their thoughts and needs, whether it happens on a random message board, Facebook, Twitter, or your own site. The idea is to be where they are.

Wow. I agree. That add kind of freaked ME out and I'm 35 years old. just nothing in it seemed to fit. Maybe if it were more cartoony yeah but it looked just "too real" to advertise for a kids cereal.

[...] With the fifteenth anniversary of the banner ad’s debut occurring last month, we thought it would be a good time to ask our art director, Jeremy Williams, for some quick thoughts on the past and future of the display ad. We asked the same from our creative director, Jeremy Pope. You can check out his responses here.
