Job Description

Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Senior Art Director is to be responsible for creating, motivating, developing, and generating “game-changing” creative work. You will be responsible for leading and directing your creative team from concept to completion. You will constantly work to elevate the creative level of the work coming out of the creative team, where the words “can’t” and “not possible” will be the exception versus the rule.

The Senior Art Director will work to ensure the agency’s creative product is well designed, well written, strategically on target, tactically optimized and utilizes proven online/offline techniques for generating highly effective and results-oriented creative work.

The Senior Art Director must be able to translate client business requirements, user needs and technical capabilities into designs that are visually exciting, easy to use and emotionally engaging. This position requires excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal team members.

This will be both a hands-on and high-level position - creating design work / copy as well as directing a team. The proven ability to balance multiple projects successfully and collaborate across strategy, media, account and technology disciplines is critical in our cross-functional environment.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

- Previous professional experience in an agency environment as a Senior Art Director – you’re a conceptual thinker with a solid background in interactive and traditional media

- Advertising is a hobby of yours

- You are stoked about finding the best approach to verbally and visually communicate an idea and story

- You express an insatiable curiosity, excited by design and technology

- You incessantly monitor the interactive marketplace and introduce new interactive concepts and new technologies as appropriate

- You are highly knowledgeable of emerging trends, new technologies, and user experience

- You have a proven track record of creating and motivating outstanding creative work

- You have experience with creating and managing strategically focused integrated communications – both online and offline

- You have an excellent sense of copy within design, copywriting skills, type and design

- You have a strong understanding of marketing objectives as they apply to creative development

- You have the ability to multi-task, the ability to prioritize yourself and resources and the ability to work under pressure – all leading to delivering quality work on time

- You understand a client's business, brand and marketing objectives, proactively contributing to its evolution and success. You monitor and adapt to client needs with regard to processes, schedules, specifications, and tool sets and work with other disciplines to ensure team and clients keep common goals and expectations

Skills

Requirements:

- 8+ years of industry/agency experience

- 4+ years education in graphic design, interactive design, animation, fine arts, advertising or related discipline

- Experience leading a team of designers, production specialists and writers to creative excellence

- Well-developed communication skills including ability to articulate creative concepts and rationale to other team members and client

- Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail is a must

- Proven track record of delivering projects from concept to launch on time and on budget

- Illustration/Photography experience and skills a plus

- A solid understanding of online and offline production

- Passion for design and eagerness to mentor and elevate other creative people

- Self motivated, organized and accountable
