LeapFrog Interactive Develops New World Wide Websites for World Café, WXPN
Posted on November 18, 2003
Interactive agency LeapFrog Interactive today announced that it has
developed and launched redesigned websites for public radio station
WXPN and its World Café program. Both sites went live July 1.
WXPN, the University of Pennsylvania's public radio station, is home
to World Café - public radio's "most popular program of popular music."
World Café and Conversations from the World Café are distributed by
Public Radio International to more than 160 stations throughout the
country.
Jeanne Griffin, WXPN's Web Producer, said that the station's high
volume of website traffic and online listenership prompted the station
to seek the redesigns.
"We needed updated, easy-to-use and visually exciting websites for
the enormous amount of visitors and online listeners who use our
sites," said Griffin.
"Our staff worked tirelessly to make sure that no detail, regardless
of how seemingly minute, went unchecked," said LeapFrog Interactive
creative director and executive vice-president Alan Gilleo. "We
understood from the project's inception that thousands of people would
see our work on a daily basis."
"I believe we produced two very impressive, very extensive sites
with extensive navigation and functionality," said senior designer
Jeremy Williams. "The numerous compliments we received from site
visitors were quite gratifying."
The sites feature graphically rich, easily updateable web interfaces
and online World Café CD store as well as the capability for visitors
to "listen live," register for electronic newsletter updates and a
Concert Calendar. LeapFrog Interactive staff worked closely with WXPN
on the tone, message and conceptual design of both websites.
Programming and development was completed by LeapFrog Interactive.
WXPN's site may be viewed at www.xpn.org and World Cafés is accessible at www.worldcafe.org.
