New Alex's Lemonade Stand website launched by LeapFrog Interactive
Posted on September 14, 2005
Louisville-based interactive agency LeapFrog Interactive has redesigned and launched www.alexslemonade.org
for Alex's Lemonade Stand, a Philadelphia based non-profit that
recently gained additional national exposure with the success of
thoroughbred Afleet Alex in the Preakness and Belmont races.
The new website continues Alex's fight against Pediatric Cancer,
which took her life last year. As Alex's Lemonade Stand becomes a
national presence, the website will play a vital role in the
organization's efforts to raise money for cancer research. While
visiting www.alexslemonade.org,
users will be able to donate funds directly, purchase merchandise or
become a sponsor. The site will provide access to the Alex's Lemonade
Stand Blog, a photo gallery, Alex's journal, news, and several new
features.
"We are so excited about the new website and what it means to our
organization" said Alex's mother, Liz Scott. "Alex would be very proud
of what LeapFrog has produced to keep her fight alive and in front of
the world."
Daniel Knapp, LeapFrog Interactive president, said his company was
delighted with the opportunity to work with the program. "LeapFrog
Interactive wanted to help continue the fight against Pediatric Cancer
that Alex so bravely started" said Knapp. "This story is all about Alex
and her enthusiasm for life, her unwavering resolve to find a cure, and
her contagious optimism. We're thrilled to be a small part of that
legacy and encourage others to become involved."
In the coming months LeapFrog Interactive will continue to develop
enhancements for Alex's Lemonade Stand. They will include more
interactive website features and functionality and several new online
marketing initiatives.
About Alex's Lemonade Stand
Alex's Lemonade Stand began in July of 2000 when four-year-old, Alex
Scott, who had been diagnosed with cancer shortly after her first
birthday, opened her first lemonade stand in order to raise money for
childhood cancer research. In August of 2004, Alex passed away. But,
Alex's Lemonade Stand remains active and resolute to see little Alex's
vision through. The organization continues to raise funds and encourage
and educate others to raise money for childhood cancer by holding their
own lemonade stands. Several businesses have taken notice of the
organization.
Corporate sponsors include: Volvo of North America, Country Time Lemonade, Jelly Belly, and Whole Foods.
